Today was just going to Kevin and I, and I planned most of the route last night, with plans to try another new place for lunch in Richfield, the Sawmill Inn Restaurant and Pub. Also, since it was just Kevin and I, I asked for him to meet me at the former Baker’s Cheese on Cty G, so that I didn’t have to do the whole way to Fondy by myself again, and he did. We both left around 9ish and what a huge difference in the weather this morning vs yesterday. It was already sunny and in the 60s by 7:30 a.m. when I went out to clean up the bike and check the tire pressure.
From Baker’s we headed south on G to B east and then Vista View Drive south to Airport Road, then Cty F east to SSS south, 67 into Campbellsport, and then W south to Elmore and Lake Bernice Roads, eventually getting onto Hwy 28 east to Hwy 175 south, and then Kevin planned some other roads heading west, north of Slinger, and then south and east back to Hwy 175 near Richfield. It was close to 11 when we arrived at the Sawmill, and what a really cool place. Plus they weren’t busy. We opted to sit on there patio as well since it had gotten a bit nicer out, because we did run into some pretty thick clouds and a few raindrops on our way there. We didn’t think that it would get close to the high 80s today as they were predicting, but it was nice enough at that time to sit outside, and we both opted to order breakfast.
From there we took 167 west past Holy Hill, with a stop for gas at 167 and 83, and then continued west on Cty O into Ashippun, some back roads through Sugar Island, and eventually to R north through Hustisford, and then Cty E north into Mayville, where we made a stop by MEC because Kevin told me they tore down Gleason Reel after last year’s tornado which was almost one year to the date as today, and we had stopped there last year to view the damage. So, we stopped so I could see it for myself that it was gone and the improvements made to MEC too.
We had planned a cream stop in Mayville at Sweet Pea’s, but they were closed so Kevin suggested the Confections store in Theresa because he knew they had ice-cream. Boy it is a good thing it was so warm out, and that I did not have my panniers because they had so many good looking chocolates, and they had Cedar Crest. Jackpot!
From there we took 175 north to Cty B east with an intended stop in Eden at the gas station before splitting up. Kevin had a pannier liner he wanted to give me to take home, so that I could use it for our trip, but it was more like a purse with only one strap and I didn’t want to take it in case it came loose on me. He at least needed gas anyway and I headed out taking 45 east, to B east, and then 67 east to Scenic Drive north through the Northern Kettles, and seen several other bikes. From there I took Hwy 23 east to Cty S north and then Cty J south and east, to Cty E north, and then Garton all the way to Grove.
Today I used my route tracker the whole time and I did 189 miles. Consistent to yesterday... Hahaha! Oh and it did get pretty warm, but I was home early enough before getting cooked too much.
