May 29 Pardeeville

It was still a pretty breezy day today, Sunday, May 29, but at least there was some sun vs. yesterday. So Kevin and I decided to go for a ride heading south/southwest where there was less rain and less chance of rain. As he left his house he got caught in rain, while on my side of town it was sunny. We did hit a couple of light showers during the day but nothing significant. After he got to my place we headed out of town to Oakfield and south stopping in the Horicon Marsh, then eventually ending up in Beaver Dam where we took county and country roads west. Then heading north into Pardeeville for some lunch at the On The Way Cafe. He ordered lunch and I ordered breakfast. It was a good choice since we’ve never stopped there before. From there we headed into Portage and we took Dyke road along the Wisconsin River where we stopped for just a bit to take a peek over the levee to see how fast the River was flowing and it was going pretty good hence the hard rains we received the night before. We ended up crossing the River in Wisconsin Dells and then took Hwy 23 a chunk of the way except when it goes along I-39 where we headed south and east around a huge marsh. Ended up stopping in Montello for a stretch and drink of water. While we were there sirens and the tornado sirens went off. We couldn’t see smoke so we’re thinking there may have been an accident but it was south side of town from where we were at. We put in a little over 200 miles and our map looks like some type of bloated animal (see below).
