Finally some really awesome weather for riding and I was available. Planned to take almost the exact route I created for the Outagamie breakfast on the farm last month, which we canceled taking the bikes to because it was cool, overcast and rainy that day. Kevin, Scott and Tom joined me. I had planned for us to eat lunch in Shawano since we’d arrive there right around the noon hour, and I love The Farm Inn on Main. Excellent eggs benedict!
From there I planned the route to stop at Big Falls by the dam and lake. Very scenic area. From there we headed south and west eventually making it into Poy Sippi. We stopped there at the BP to see if Scott wanted to head directly home vs. following us since he wanted to be home around 3 and it was already a little after that. He said “no” and lets hit that ice-cream place (Country Rose Shops) we just passed on Hwy 49. Funny cause Kevin and I mentioned to each other as we passed it that we’d never had been there before, but Scott needed to get back. People will drop anything for ice-cream!
From there we headed through Borth to Hwy 116 into Omro. Since it was getting late, I decided to scrap the original route to Ripon and just took Hwy 116 to Cty M through Pickette and then Hwy 23 the remainder of the way home. When we turned onto Hwy 23 Scott continued on M towards home.
We ran into quite a bit of construction and detours today and saw a bunch of deer. Thankfully none up close. One was a fawn smack dab in the middle of Kaukauna. Poor thing must have been lost!
I finally broke 200 miles too...
