July 29 Long Way Around Bago

The really high dew points were finally going to break for the weekend and Kevin was available for a ride today. I checked with some of the other usual suspects and almost had five riders for today, but two had to cancel. So it was just Kevin, Sparky and me. I planned an extra long route around Lake Winnebago with a stop for lunch at Three Guys and A Grill in Sheboygan Marsh just outside of Elkhart Lake. We were going to walk up the tower before lunch but as we were crossing the dam an endless group of mostly Harley’s kept pulling in and into their parking lot. We panicked since we thought they were all going to order food too, so we high tailed it into the restaurant attempting to beat them. Turns out they were on a poker/memorial ride so no eating. It had something to do with the Sheboygan Lakeshore Weekend, which is where it started and also a memorial ride for a fallen cyclist. After we ate we meandered up the tower. I don’t seem to be getting any better with heights as I age. Couldn’t go near the edge. From there I had planned a ride north through Brillion on into Ashwabenon, then down to Winneconne, etc. Sparky couldn't tag along for the whole ride, so he dropped off to head back home in Brillion. We made a stop at The Well Drive Inn in Winneconne for a break and ice-cream before heading down to Omro and through Waukau on our way home. Looks like we put in exactly 200 miles today. Perfect day for a ride! Doesn’t get any better than today’s weather!!!
