August 11-13 Winona

I had plans to visit Dad & Canders this weekend and the weather held up nicely enough for me to take the bike. Although, it looked a little questionable heading out Friday morning. Since it was overcast, very humid and you cannot see mist on the radar. I still opted for not taking any rain gear, but should have at least worn my liner under my airflow jacket. It was pretty chilly at times being so damp from the humidity, going around 70 mph and no sun. My plan was to take as a direct of a route as possible without taking much Interstate, with a stop by a job site I had visited for work the previous Friday. Which I accomplished and stopping in West Salem after that for a lunch break at Big Boar Barbecue. I had actually eaten there for my first time the week before while visiting that job site and last time we went through West Salem on the bikes, commented that looks like a good place to stop for lunch next trip. Yum, yum it totally was!

I finally arrived in Winona around 1:30 and met Canders at the house to take her with me and their car to visit Dad. On my way to MN there were a couple of times I thought I heard chinking sounds coming from my bike, and sure enough… after inspecting my new chain when I had arrived, turns out the new chain I had replaced on the bike this spring was way too loose than it should be. Ugh!

I had a great time with Candy and Dad the whole weekend and was able to spend not just the morning with Dad on Saturday, but also the whole afternoon.

On Sunday, Kevin met me at the nursing home after he packed up from his camping adventure with his ST group outside of  Lanesboro MN. From there he followed me back to the house and then we borrowed the really large sized socket wrenches needed to loosen my back tire, so that we could tighten the chain. From there I had planned a route back through West Salem and Sparta, and then taking Hwy 71 until it met up with 80/82 south to Hwy 33. From there it was pretty much a direct route back home since it was getting late.
