September 18 Saukville

I was trying to plan a ride with most of the usual suspects but nobody could go except Kevin. Since we were the only ones going and also attending the IMTS show in Chi-town on Saturday, I didn’t spend much time on planning a route. That is until after I got home the night before from the show and at least planned a route to Saukville where I also found online a restaurant for lunch, Fireman’s Restaurant. We loaded my route into Kevin’s GPS before leaving, but we apparently deviated from our route. However got back on track before Newburg. When we were coming into Saukville on Cty O, I noticed a huge foundry of some sort, so being curious we ventured over that way to see what it was. It was Charter Steel and it was huge. I took some pictures before security could kick us out. 😇 We found Fireman’s Restaurant where we shared a bacon cheeseburger, homemade chips with a spicy cheese sauce. It was really good. While there we planned to continue on Cty O south to Grafton before heading west on Hwy 60. We apparently missed Hwy 60 and ended up in Cedarburg, which was no big deal except we got caught up in some congestion due to a festival going on there. From there we headed west and north to get to Hwy 60 which we took into Hartford, and then we took Hwy 83 south, and so on before stopping in Horicon at The Ice-Cream Station. From there we took mostly back roads to Fondy. Only 180 miles, but a good 180 miles. Know my time for riding will be running out soon, so I really enjoyed today!
