April 18, Ride to Schiocton - Sturgeon Spawning

I had posted an event on the Facebook Fond du Lac Riding Group but no takers. So just Kevin and I for a trip north to see if we could catch the Sturgeons spawning around the Schiocton area. It was a pretty cool day, only in the 50s with a strong winds out of the east so that is always fun with my bike getting hit by heavy wind gusts broadside, and it made it feel much cooler too. Anywho we didn’t have much luck spotting them around New London which is where we stopped first, so we proceeded to Schiocton and sure enough they were pretty heavy through that area. At one point there were at least 15 of them rolling around along the shore in front of us. It was almost 2 p.m. and neither of us had lunch so we stopped at the River Rail Bar & Grill for something to eat. It took a very long time to get our food since they were so busy with the extra people in their area, but the food was good once we got it. We then proceeded down Hyw 76 south and eventually headed east hooking up on Hwy 55 to 151 along the east side of Lake Winnebago. Think we put in right around 150 miles this trip.
