Saturday, May 7

I wanted to plan a ride for this weekend and was shooting for Sunday, but with it being Mother’s Day, that didn’t work very well for most. So I planned it for Saturday. I originally was thinking of heading to Port Washington, however, after hearing it would be cooler by Lake Michigan, I opted for heading southwest and thankfully I did because it was pretty chilly. The usual suspects were in attendance, except one extra… Mark E. a/k/a The Stig decided to join us too which was nice he finally made it! I planned on taking mostly county roads and a couple of highways to get us to Portage for lunch at the Red Apple Restaurant and we arrived there around noon. Food was good. I think it was an old Country Kitchen at one time. I didn’t plan any routes for after that, except to maybe take Levee Road along the Wisconsin River, but we had to be back by 3 p.m. so we didn’t want to head too much further west, so we ended up taking EE out of Portage heading northeast, etc. (map below). Although a bit chilly, every ride is a good ride!
