I planned a ride and what could have been potentially up to seven bikes, narrowed down to just three... Kevin, Pete and me. I was originally going to head east and south, but based by the wind direction coming off of Lake Michigan to the northwest, I decided to take us more west. Originally we were going to have to be back by 4 p.m. as well so I didn’t plan for too far, but once that wasn’t necessary, we changed the route after where I had planned for lunch. However before we got too far out of town, Pete suggested we stop by his friends (Chuck & Kathy’s) which was only a mile away from where we were at, because they had turkeys, and when we asked about goats and he said “yes” that was all I needed to hear. So we made an impromptu stop there for a bit. They showed us their goats Rod and Todd, lovable guys. They also showed us their turkeys as mentioned, big tom all fanned out, plus chickens, kitties and dogs. Very nice pit-stop! From there we headed to the Long Branch Bar in Germania for lunch. Good burgers and sandwiches! And, since we had more time Pete suggested going to the Merrimac Ferry, which we did. He really seems to like it, and so do we. From there we headed home through Lodi, Dane, Columbus, Fox Lake, Waupun and home where we stopped at Gilles for ice-cream (custard)… Yay! Think it was 230 miles and my bad wrist sure was sore since that was the first longest ride of the season for me. Couldn’t have asked for a better day, weather was I think up into the 80s and mostly sunny.
