After yesterday’s debacle and being a little sore from it, I wasn’t so sure I would be up for riding today, and most certainly not the longer trip I had originally planned for Brad and I. So, I called him last night to tell him about my day, including this too and that I best keep it more local. We then agreed to meet at Three Guys and A Grill for lunch and maybe do a little riding based on how I feel.
Earlier in the morning I went to go clean my new ride and attempted to get my old one started after doing a boost jump on it. I could hardly move the new bike while sitting on it in my garage, so I got off of it to do so. And after charging my old ride for a while it eventually started and I let it run until it didn’t need the choke open. It was then, and knowing how sore my right leg was from yesterday, that I opted to take my old ride for today. Besides, I need to burn up the old fuel in it anyways. That required a little bit of re-acclimation after being used to the new one, but that didn’t take too long.
Some guy in the parking lot of Three Guys told me I had a really cool looking bike. After telling him thanks, I proceeded to tell him how old it is and how many miles I have on it. He was astonished to say the least. Three Guys were pretty busy but they had a couple of open tables, so I waited inside for Brad to hold one, and he showed up around 15 minutes after me. I mentioned that I would be up for heading to Scoops for ice-cream in Chilton if he was too, and that didn’t take much arm-bending to convince him to go.
We headed north on Cty J to New Holstein and then Hwy 57 to Chilton. Surprisingly Scoops wasn’t too busy and we opted to sit outside in the sun since I was so chilled from the A/C which was cranking at Three Guys. Sorry, but it isn’t that warm to be running the A/C already! Maybe for their workers, but not for the patrons.
From Scoops we went our separate ways. I didn’t turn the tracker on until we left Three Guys, but I found some really cool roads I haven’t been on yet around Elkhart and towards Howard’s Grove, including some really interesting sites! Goats, included! Hahahahaha!
So thankful I haven’t sold my old ride yet, as I have a couple of potential interests, or I may have never gotten out to ride today. I had such high hopes for my new ride, and I am really bummed. If I cannot lower it any more, I don’t think I can keep it. I need to be able to roll it over gravel, which I couldn’t at Scott’s yesterday and get my feet more flat to the ground when stopped, or I am going to run into trouble again. If every stop was pretty flat and I never had to park on gravel, etc., I would maybe be fine, but I need to be realistic about it too.
We’ll see!
