Sept 14 Kettles

When I rode with Kari on September 2nd she mentioned we should try to get together with Erica and that Erica wanted to check out Fudgieknuckles in Glenbeulah. Which is right in my neck of the woods. So, I sent Kari a message during the week asking if she might be available today for a ride and to check with Erica too. Turns out it worked for both of them, but Erica might not be able to head out until noon from Princeton. I said that was fine and I would meet them at Fudgies. Well, I received a text from Kari around 11:50 stating they would be there around 12:15. So, I hightailed it getting ready to head out, fearing they may beat me there, but I thought realistically there was no way they could if she sent the text from Fondy.

I arrived there around 12:20 and no sign of them yet. So, I went inside and waited for them at the bar while watching part of the Badgers football game. They arrived around 20 minutes after me. Kari and I split an incredibly yummy chicken bacon wrap and Erica wasn’t hungry since she had partaken in an Amish breakfast earlier with her family, which is why she couldn’t leave until later.

After fueling ourselves, we fueled our bikes in Glenbeulah before heading out south of there on Cty S to 23 west, and Cty A into Greenbush. When we approached the stop sign there I notice a bunch of Mustangs, other muscle cars and some vintage vehicles turning onto Scenic drive, holding up traffic at the stop sign. I thought oh pooh, but hoped they would clip along good through the twisties. It was also the Tomahawk rally weekend and we already knew a bunch of folks who were up there in attendance, so thought we probably wouldn’t see as many bikes through the Kettles, which we did not see many. The muscle cars weren’t too terribly slow, but slower than mine and the bike ahead me’s pace, and they turned onto Hwy 67 the direction I was planning on taking, so I opted to continue the other direction following the scenic drive signs. The other bike ahead me had already decided to get away from them and took his first opportunity prior to Hwy 67. Just as I did earlier this year, I missed a turn off of Cty A due to trees in the way of the scenic route sign and as we continued the muscle cars passed us in the other direction. So, that meant I could get back onto Hwy 67 on my original intended route, but not without a stop for some photos.

From Hwy 67 we dropped south on Cty G along Long Lake and through Dundee, then taking Cty S to GGG and followed the scenic route signs all the way just north of West Bend. By this time I had to use a restroom, so I thought we’d stop at Jugs Hitching Post since Erica had never been there. We stayed for a bit and they planned their route back and I said I would drop off to head home from Lomira. Well, as we were leaving Kari said goodbye and they seemed to still be chatting in the parking lot while I waited for them at the stop sign. When it seemed to take them a while, I opted to just head out. So, since I was solo, I took a road north off of Cty D just before Hwy 41 and took it all the way to Old Cty W which then connected onto the current Cty W into Campbellsport where I took 67 back to Dundee, G to T and A to J around RA, and then Cty E to Garton Road back to Grove.

It was such an absolute gorgeous day and so wonderful to spend some time with these lovely ladies! The colors are starting to really change and seen quite a few soy bean fields with their leaves already completely dropped. Boo hoo!

I didn’t use my tracker but according to my odometer, I put in 116 miles which was okay by me with the late start and opportunity to ride with these two!
