Since I didn’t take the bike to Galena for Father’s Day weekend, I decided to take Monday (today) off of work to ride and my good friend Kari was able to join me. Also, since it was Juneteenth the stock markets would be closed, including my boss was also off. So, perfect day to take off myself.
Because it was going to be in the 80s and very nice, I figured it was a good time to head towards Lake Michigan and decided on Port Washington. Also I figured it would much less congested since it was a Monday as well, which it certainly was.
Kari couldn’t leave until later in the morning and met me at my place around 11:40. From there I had to old school it and write down the roads I wanted to take to get us there. So, not much for extra back roads and one of them I wanted to take was closed. I still pretty much kept us on the roads I intended on taking though.
Think it was around 1ish when we got to Port. The first place we stopped at which I wanted to try for lunch was Inventor’s Brewhouse, but they were closed. I figured Yummy Bones would be closed too, but we parked near there and sure enough, closed. Just about every eatery in the area of downtown was closed except for the trusty Scooner’s Pub which is where we ended up.
We both wanted to walk out to the lighthouse since it was a bit cooler lakeside and we did, but that didn’t leave us much time for us to get back for my 5 o’clock bylaws meeting at the Club. With that said it was a much more direct route back except for Forest View Drive.
Even though it wasn’t much for riding, it was just enough and always an exceptional pleasure to hang with Kari!
