It was finally going to be at least in the 60s and a perfect day for my first ride of the season.
I guess I should back up, for those of you who follow my blog… hence I had a very scary experience during my last ride of the season last year, with my bike revving super high and not getting power when taking off or after slowing down. Luckily while my cousin had possession of it for a couple of weeks, he was able to determine the cause. A bad o-ring/seal on my front cylinder causing too much air intake which he replaced. Thank goodness! I never thought I would be so happy to hear he found something wrong with my bike, but I knew it scared me so bad that I would never feel comfortable getting back on it until it was resolved.
Back to today… I had only one taker for the ride and neither of us were available until the afternoon, which was okay since it was still a bit chilly in the morning. He met up with me at my place and I had planned on taking a bunch of my favorite back roads to Eureka with a stop for lunch there at the Eureka Bar & Grill. Out of all the times I’ve stopped at the park near this establishment, and usually my first ride of the season, I have never eaten there. We were very impressed with their burgers, and I will keep it in mind for the future.
From there we took some more back roads along the Fox River and over to Berlin. Then back roads to Ripon where I took the other extension of Olden Road to where we ended on Olden during our venture up toward Eureka; and from there Cty M to Hwy 23 back to town.
I have to admit I was a bit skittish with my take-offs until after we left Eureka, but the issue from last year has clearly been fixed.
I didn’t bother with a tracker for producing a map of the route this time. I’d say around 80 miles though.
