It was going to be an absolutely perfect afternoon weather-wise for riding; mostly sunny, temps in the 70s and very low dew points. With that said, I had planned to ride with Kevin after a much needed nap after my overnight adventures in ghost hunting at the old Glenbeulah High School.
Kevin met me here at 11 and I hadn’t planned any route for today except to head west on Cty T/Rodgersville Rd. Also, I didn’t want to head south because the clouds weren’t cleared in that direction yet when we left. With the dew points so low and a fairly good breeze, it was a wee bit chilly occasionally at the start.
After crossing Hwy 26 we stayed on Cty T for a while until it dropped south and we continued on Raube Rd west and a bunch of other roads mostly west from there. Around 12:30 we stopped to see where we were since we were both pretty hungry and I needed gas. We weren’t too far from Packwaukee, so we headed that direction and we were going to stop at the bar on the north side or Buffalo Lake only to find that it had been closed. As in permanently. So, we took Cty C into Montello and ended up at Rendezvous near the dam. They had a brat/sausage fry going on for lunch to give their kitchen staff a day off which worked out perfectly for us.
After lunch we stopped for gas and then headed west out of Montello on Cty F for a ways before dropping south and then east towards home. I had thought I was making a route to Princeton with thoughts of ice-cream at The Ice Bowl, when I finally realized I had gone more towards Fox Lake. We stopped in Freisland to clean my visor and that’s when we decided to hit Karen’s Hip Hop for some Cedarcrest.
From there we took Hwy 68 into Waupun and then Cty D to Breakneck Rd. It was a bit of a change of pace for us since we usually hit Breakneck running west which takes you down the ledge, but instead this way you go up it.
I also finally feel like I have completely shaken off the jitters I was having. It felt so good too!
