It has been extremely slow for me at work, and today was no exception. I was done with almost all of my work for the day by the lunch hour and instead of struggling through the afternoon to remain busy, I took the afternoon off. With that in mind, I contacted my friend Scott who I haven’t ridden with since early in the season. Much to my luck he was around and able to go for a little ride.
I also really needed to wash my bike and knew that he would probably have a pit-bull stand so that I could wash my chain which really needed it the most.
So I headed down to his place outside of Mayville shortly after I got home. From his place we planned on riding to Fox Lake for lunch at Karen’s Hip Hop Diner and then onto the Beaver Dam area.
It had gotten pretty cloudy by the time we headed out with some clouds looking a bit ominous. However, it never rained. It was also getting a bit late for me to get in a bike wash and home by 5 p.m. for my evening plans. So, when we were done with lunch we opted to head back without the trip to Beaver Dam.
We went through Horicon Marsh both there and back, and took some back roads on our way to Fox Lake along the marsh.
I downloaded a new tracker app, Solo Trip, a couple of weeks ago and used it last Sunday for my ride with Kevin and much to my surprise it even provides a map which includes color changes depending on your average speeds. So, I used that today, but didn’t turn it on until we left Scott’s and the restaurant.
I put in around 90 miles today and although it was cloudy and breezy it was still a very nice day for riding… no high dew points!
