I planned a route to Oconto since I have never taken the bike there or that direction. Usually because I try avoiding Green Bay. However, I found a really good route to take up on Cty D along the Fox River from Wrightstown to De Pere, and then through the west side of Green Bay, through Hobart and Howard to Little Suamico and then Cty S to Oconto.
First we took Hwy 151 and Hwy 55 to get us to Kaukauna where made a stop at 1000 Islands before venturing on Cty Z and ZZ to Writghtstown.
I planned lunch at The Dockside Bar & Grill in Oconto and my shrimp/crab quesadilla was excellent! Most roads around there were posted "closed due to high water", but no water was there. Later watching the news/weather reports slated that area for flooding for Sunday due the high winds expected out of the south. I suppose they might have been posted in anticipation of that. It also looked like Lake Michigan was already higher than usual.
From Oconto we took Hwy 22 west all the way to Shawano, then Cty K south and a bunch of other county roads into Oshkosh where we stopped for custard at Rhapsodies before heading home on Hwy 45/Lakshore Drive.
It was a 45 mph road and road closed kind of day. Seems like almost all of the roads around Hobart, Howard, Suamico and so on were only 45 mph, and we ran into lots of roads posted closed.
It was a perfect day for riding and we put in around 250 miles.
