So low and behold the rain originally predicted for today was pretty much removed as well with only possible hit and miss showers. With that said, I opted for not planning a route for today except to head towards Elkhart Lake and avoid any potential rain.
I met Kevin at his place and we started out by going along Lake Winnebago and up the Ledge through Saint Peter and Mount Calvary. From there we headed north before heading east and south to Elkhart, with a stop at the old Marsh Bar north or there, now known as Three Guys & A Grill. We arrived just before 11 and walked out by the dam with thoughts of going up in the observation tower, but decided to forego the tower and head into Elkhart to see about some place for lunch.
Places in Elkhart seemed busier than we hoped so we proceeded to Plymouth to the A&W, but the drive through was very busy and not really any place close to sit outside to eat. We then drove through Plymouth without any luck, which is when I suggested we go to Sheboygan Falls and hit the DQ drive through, and eat at River Park. And so we did. Bummer we were so close to my brother’s but with the current situation I didn’t want to drop in unannounced. Plus with the weather being so nice, I suspect he and Nick were out some place fishing.
After leaving the park we ended up taking mostly Hwy 28 south into and out of West Bend, taking Cty D to Hwy 175 and then Hwy 67 into Mayville. Since we were so close to Kevin’s parents we made a stop there and found them out on their deck. We visited with them for a bit and enjoyed the birds and weather before heading back to town on Cty Y and D.
Still not 200 miles, but no matter since we spent most of the day on the bikes and the weather was perfect for it!
