We had some extremely warm weather over Easter weekend but I was in MN for a visit with Dad and Danders and then onto two of our Cities' locations for work, so I couldn't take the bike. Turns out I noticed my bike’s chain was in bad shape right before I left anyways. It seemed loose again and we had tightened it three times last year, but when I rolled it to put it in the back of the garage it went from loose to extremely tight making it hard put it away. I tried giving my cousin some business for replacing it, but he couldn’t get me into his shop for two-three weeks. So I asked my friend and back-up mechanic, Mark, if he could take a look at it since the weather was supposed to be so nice the weekend of the 4th. I bought the chain from my cousin because my Chapparal order I placed never went through. Saturday morning, May 4th, is when Mark planned to replace it. I was hoping the front sprocket was okay and I get a call from Mark saying “bad news”. I thought for sure it would be the sprocket(s), but nope… the chain I bought from my cousin was only 104 links and not the 108 needed which is what the label said on the box. I ran to my cousin’s shop and he didn’t have any replacements. So onto Pro Motorsports and nada. I called Eckland's in Oshkosh and another nada. Then I tried Team Winnebagoland in Oshkosh, and they had a 120 link they could reduce for me; however twice the price I paid for the 104. I did not care, I wanted to get on my bike! When I got there they hadn’t reduced the links yet, so another half hour was spent there waiting. Looked for the 800cc Triumph Scott told me to check out, but didn’t see any on their showroom floor. All this while Kevin was waiting for me to ride and get lunch. By 1:30ish Mark was finished with my bike and delivered it to my place. We agreed to Rock The House for lunch near Lomira. From there we headed over to Dundee, Elkhart Lake and to Chilton where we stopped for ice-cream at Scoops. Although it was 60s/low 70s I am sure glad I wore my non-vented jacket with the quilted liner. Got a little chilly when getting closer to Lake Michigan. Map with miles and photo below. Not a bad ride for my first one out of the gate.
