It seemed like a
lifetime ago since Daytona, but finally Road America was here. Hence the
long break I found myself struggling a bit to remember who was racing and
on what. Confusing now too since the numbers stay with the teams instead
of the racers. I also completely forgot that Aaron Yates was back again
and on an EBR bike. Even though there was a threat for rain every day it
held off during the races. Friday and Saturday were actually very nice
days, but Sunday was much cooler and it showed when they bumped up the
Supersport races into the morning and they kept dropping from cold tires
(I suspect) in the chicane. Then there was the huge as they put it...
"total carnage" on the restart beyond the grid on the straight away but
not due to the weather. I think one racer is still at Froedtert (where I
went for my motorcycle accident) but I haven't heard any updates regarding
them/her.
I was very pleased
to see that CBS Sports had picked up on the television coverage and also
that Jonathan Green joined their team to cover the American races.
For those wondering,
no I did not have a chance to catch up with Jim Roach. Every time I
thought I would get to chat with him, either he was busy and/or I got
distracted. I'm certain this weekend was huge for him after the problems
they had at Daytona. Glad to see they were able to turn things around.
